My Favourite Outfit: Lisa
In this series, I ask the contributor to share an image of their favourite outfit – maybe a pair of pants they wore every day, maybe a special party dress – and write about where they were in their life and why this outfit has such significance. Today we welcome Lisa, who I discovered when I ordered a necklace from her Etsy shop just before Christmas. I wanted to make sure I was buying from a real creative person, which led me to her awesome vintage style blog, Lalafauxbois. This is her favourite outfit.
When Elise asked me to share my favorite outfit, I had a little bit of a panic. What could possibly stand up as my favorite piece, especially since my fickle sense of style has me rotating through thrifted clothes like it’s my job. (Since I do sell vintage it kinda counts as my job, right??)
The question of my favorite outfit really got me thinking about what would constitute a favorite for me – something that I wear a ton but will eventually get rid of like my current favorite jeans, something of sentimental value like a wedding dress or concert tee, a rare vintage find? When I really started to think about it, the answer was pretty easy. I bought this dress on Etsy from the shop Nenee about 4 years ago with some birthday money. It really stood out to me since it’s two different fabrics, and I really loved that she made the dress to order with my measurements. It’s well made and a classic cut, while being unique enough in the details. I can see myself hanging onto this dress for awhile, it’s never even up for consideration during my regular closet clean-outs. This dress isn’t something I can throw on every day, but I must confess that it’s been to 4 or 5 different weddings. All different sets of friends, so no one was the wiser 😉 I love supporting handmade businesses and buying something special like this makes it a memorable favorite in my closet.
